Do you let your clients eat carbs?

At Allison Gross Nutrition, we do not cut out entire food groups, unless there is a specific need to do so. When it comes to carbs, we believe that if the right carbs are eaten with the right foods and at the right time, they can be a part of a very healthy diet. In general, we want you to be able to eat the foods you love, while still getting you the results you want.

Do you prescribe a specific diet?

All diets are specialized for the individual based on personal goals, food preferences, schedule, and lifestyle. However, there are a few basic tenets at the root of every meal plan. Namely:

  1. structuring and timing meals and snacks to improve metabolism and optimize energy expenditure

  2. properly pairing foods to ensure satiety and enhance nutrient absorption

  3. ensuring specific nutritional targets are met throughout the day

  4. finding healthy food swaps to keep clients satisfied while increasing the nutrient density of their food

  5. allowing for controlled indulgences to foster a long-term healthy lifestyle

What does the 6-week reset phase entail?

This phase begins with a thorough consultation covering:

  • diet history

  • medical history

  • lifestyle

  • work/personal schedules

  • goal-setting

  • food preferences, allergies, and intolerances

After your consultation, you will receive an individualized plan curated based on information from your consultation. Your plan will entail a:

  • meal plan

  • grocery list

  • recipes

  • short-term action plan

  • monitoring plan

To provide the ultimate support, follow-ups occur twice a week. During follow-ups, we:

  • evaluate progress

  • discuss obstacles

  • adjust the individualized plan as needed

  • plan for any upcoming work/social calendar obligations

Unlimited Support:

In between appointments, you will have unlimited access via email, call, or text to check in and/or ask any questions you may have.

Workout Partner:

If you ever want a buddy work out with, we are happy to coordinate that, schedule permitting.

Phase 1 is a minimum of 6 weeks to ensure significant progress is achieved. At the 6-week point, clients may decide to continue with the phase 1 program or move on to Phase 2 of Tapered Support.

What does the Tapered support phase entail?

This phase is essentially a continuation of phase 1. However, during this phase follow-ups are tapered to once a week. The purpose of this phase is to fine-tune the habits learned in phase one so that they become an integrated part of your new wellness lifestyle. This phase should bring you to your finish line where the goals established in phase 1 are achieved.

What does the supported maintenance phase entail?

Supported maintenance entails monthly check-ins to ensure that the goals you have achieved are maintained. At Allison Gross Nutrition, our job does not end when your end goal is met. Our job is done when your end goal is maintained. This is how we make sure that happens.

What should I bring to My first consultation?

Before your consultation, you will fill out a 3-day diet journal, which you should bring with you to the consultation. If you have any relevant blood work or test results from your doctor, you should bring that as well.

What is a 3-day diet journal?

The 3-day diet journal is used to capture a snapshot how you eat in real life. We will use it to figure out what sort of changes we need to make for you to achieve your goals

More about the journal:.

  • Because we tend to eat differently on the weekends than the weekdays, the journal should cover 3 consecutive days: 2 weekdays and 1 weekend day (Thursday/Friday/Saturday or Sunday/Monday/Tuesday).

  • You will receive a template that includes columns for what you eat/drink; when you are eating/drinking; and even how you are feeling (this could be mental, emotional, physical).

  • The more detailed and honest, the better. Remember, there will be zero judgment and total confidentiality.
